On 1st November 2009, SMEC International Pty Ltd acquired 100% shareholding of Clough's Pakistan business operating under the banner CEIS Pakistan Pvt Ltd. Clough started its operations in Pakistan as an EPCC contractor in 1992 and successfully completed various prestigious projects in the oil & gas sector of the country. CEIS first Design House was setup in Karachi in February 2005. With the growing demand of CEIS provided engineering services; soon another Design House was established in Islamabad in Nov 2005. CEIS offices in Pakistan were inaugurated by H.E. John Howard, then honorable Prime Minister of Australia.

SMEC views CEIS as the foundation on which to develop, expand and grow oil & gas market both in South Asia and to the broader SMEC footprint.
